A 2 channel video installation, Cement uses projection monitors to mechanically disconnect the body. Each monitor depicts a slight physical re-arrangement to make a new figure.

 

Distorted and fragmented both visually and with sound, this work seeks to investigate and understand the human form and psyche through the performative process and uses the body as a source of knowledge and experience.

 

Cement, an industrial material, constructs and binds the body to transcend it to a state of meditative calm; it also slowly burns and blisters the scalp and skin. Materials are explored through the parameters of performative stillness, space, and time.
